Description
This course provides an overview of the structure and functyion of cells and their subcellular and molecular components. Eukaryotic cells are stressed. Topics covered include membrane dynamics, cellular compartmentalization, protein construction and trafficking, mitochondrial and chloroplast function, cell signaling pathways, cell reproduction, information storage and processing, and gene regulation. This course prepares students for more advanced courses in biology and its a prerequisite for most of the advanced courses. This course replaces the previous BIO 0400.
