Description

RDG 0028 / Developmental Reading is a four hour transitional reading course designed to improve students� basic reading, study and cognitive skills. These skills are essential at the college level. This course will teach students the fundamentals of reading comprehension, including identifying the main ideas in expository text, strengthening vocabulary by learning how to recognize context clues, structural analysis and dictionary use. To achieve these goals, students will work in a collaborative learning environment. Methods of instruction include: textbook reading, lecture, use of hand-outs and worksheets, group reading and discussion, vocabulary development exercises, use of audio-visuals, and computer aided assessment. The lab component of the course is accomplished through MyReadingLab.
