Description
This course is designed to develop an understanding of the curriculum, methods and materials basic to Language Arts Education in preschool through 6th grade. Teacher candidates will develop competence in the use of Engish language arts and in using concepts from reading language and child development to planning instruction of reading, writing, speaking, viewing, listening, and thinking skills. Candidates will also study language acquisition and development in both expressive and receptive communication skills. Candidates learn to effectively plan traditional and non-traditional language arts programs. For successful completion of this course, students must demonstrate penmanship competency in Manuscript and Cursive handwriting.
