Description
This course is designed to assist teacher candidates in developing comnpetence in the use of English language arts, while using concepts from reading language and child development to teach communication and thinking skills across the curriculum, and in helping K-6 students successfully apply their developing skills to many different situations. Candidates are expected to develop knowledge, skills, and dispositions for fosterig among the K-6 level students' active engagement in learning, self-motivation, and positive social interaction and to create supportive learning environments. Candidates are expected to administer formative and summative assessments to determine students' understanding and use of language and to help students correct error patterns, misconceptions, and misunderstanding.
