Description
This course is designed to assist teacher candidates in developing connections between mathematics, science, and social studies curriculum theory and clasroom practices. Candidates are expected to develop knowledge, skills, and dispositions for fotering among the K-6 level stuents' active engagement in learning, self-motivation, and positive social interaction and to create supportive learning environments. Candidates are to develop techniques that will foster activity inquiry, collaboration, and supportive interaction in the elementary classroom. Candidates' clinical performance and teaching processes are assessed by the teacher work sample methodology to include contextual factors, learning goals, assessment plan, design for instruction, classroom management, instructional decision-making, analysis of student learning, reflection and self evaluation, and family involvement plan.
