Description

This course is designed to assist elementary candidates in developing methods and materials for delivering standards-based curriculum and instruction. They are required to demonstrate knowledge, understanding, and the use of major concepts, procedures, and reasoning processes of mathematics that define number systems and number sense, geometry, measurement, statistics and probability, and algebra in order to foster K-6 students' understanding and use of patterns, quantities, and spatial relationships that can represent phenomena, solve problems, and manage data. Candidates' knowledge, skills, and dispositions performance are assesed by examinations, demonstrations, by document understandig of the teacher work sample methodology applied to elementary ACEI and NCTM standards to include contextural factors, learning goals, assessment plan, design for instruction, classroom management, instructional decision-making, analysis of student learning, reflection and self evaluation, and family
