Description
This course is a survey of African Americans from slavery to the present. Topics include: African antecedents, the European slave trade and the Middle Passage, the slave community, ante bellum free blacks, impact of the Civil War, Black Reconstruction, Jim Crowism, the Great Migration, the Harlem Renaissance, World War II and the African American experience, the Civil Rights Movements, Black Power, and the contemporary issues.
