Description

This course will examine and evaluate the two basic issues in the study of social justice; how justice can exist in such a manner as to allocate the gain from cooperation in such a way that everyone has a self-interested motive for adherence; and principles of justice that can be appled to the distribution of scarce resources in such a manner as to be defensible from an impartial stand point. This evaluation will require the analysis of issues of distribution of resources, conflicting claims to resources, the concepts of fairness reflected against the concept of need or entitlement. Application of these issues will be evaluated against the concerns of public policy as it is applied to the distribution of public sources within the society.
