Drug use, including the use of legal/illegal substances, in a sociological context, describes an activity in which humans engage, is socially patterned, and is important due to the consequences administered to groups within society. It is the purview of sociologists, psychologists, psychiatrists, and criminoligists, to study how norms are createed, how they change over time and how they are enforced.
