This course is an overview of the evolution of urbanization and the current nature of cities. Topics include: a discussion of what a city is; a description of forces leading to urbanization and a look at early city cultures such as Mesopotamia and Egypt; an overview of major urban theorists; and the impact of industrialization/post-industrialization on the city.
